This thesis focuses on neutron radiation shielding, secondary γ radiation, and current trends in shielding material development. The introductory part summarizes the basic concepts related to radioactivity, the types of ionizing radiation, and mechanisms of their interaction with matter. Subsequently, the principles of γ and neutron radiation shielding are described, including neutron moderation, neutron absorption, and the generation of secondary γ radiation. Furthermore, an overview of modern shielding materials and their development is presented, particularly with regard to the replacement of toxic lead with alternative materials. Attention is focused on alloys, rare-earth element oxides, shielding glasses and composite materials. The following part of the thesis focuses on numerical modeling of neutron and γ radiation transport to determine the shielding properties of selected materials. The simulations were performed using the PHITS code and supplemented by calculation using the Phy-X/PSD tool. The obtained results are then evaluated and plotted to compare the shielding properties of the individual materials.

Student představil výsledky svojí bakalářské práce. Předseda komise prof. Drápela seznámil komisi s posudkem vedoucí práce doktorky Vrtalové a vyzval oponenta doktora Mičiana, aby komisi seznámili se svým posudkem závěrečné práce. Po seznámení s posudky oponent položil studentovi tři otázky. Student na ně samostatně odpověděl s využitím vlastní přípravy v prezentaci. Oponent pokládal doplňující otázky. Student odpovídal na doplňující otázky samostatně upřesnil okolnosti experimentů a chvalitebně reagoval i v následné diskusi.
