This diploma thesis deals with the design and implementation of a laboratory model of a static excitation system for a synchronous machine, controlled by the ABB UNITROL 1020 digital regulator. The thesis presents the technical solution of the power section rated for a nominal current of 20 A, including the design of power supply circuits and the integration of external capacity for DC link stabilization. The functionality of the model is verified using the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) methodology utilizing the OMICRON CMC 500 testing device, which emulates the behavior of the generator and the power system in real-time. The result of the work is complete project documentation and a functional model enabling safe testing of control loops and protection functions.
