This bachelor thesis deals with the design of a multicultural building located on Preslova Street in the Smíchov district of Prague. The proposal responds to a prominent corner site near Portheimka Park and aims to contribute to its urban and social revitalization. The building is conceived as a space connecting professional theatrical production with the public. The program includes rehearsal spaces intended not only for the needs of the Švandovo Theatre, but also exhibition spaces, a café, and a multifunctional black box designed for occasional theatre performances. The main idea of the proposal is to create an open cultural environment enabling interaction between artists and visitors.
The thesis addresses the project at multiple scales — from urban relationships and connections to the surrounding public space to the architectural, structural, and material design of the building. Emphasis is placed on connecting the building with the Portheimka Park, opening the ground floor level, and creating a contemporary cultural center with an open and accessible character.
