This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the design of a mixed-use building in Prostějov, located within an urban infill site at the intersection of Palackého, Plumlovská, and Mlýnská streets. The aim of the proposal is to complete the disrupted urban structure near the historic city center, improve the quality of public space, and create a better environment not only for housing. The building includes residential units, a commercial ground floor, and a “house for sewing” as an educational and creative center reflecting the tradition of the local textile industry. The design emphasizes sensitivity towards the surrounding lower-scale residential buildings in Mlýnská Street as well as the nearby cultural heritage monument, the “Městský dům se žudrem” (Town house with a prominent Avant-corps). From a technological perspective, the project focuses on the efficient use of local resources, including a water-to-water heat pump system, photovoltaic panels, green roofs, and stormwater retention. The thesis includes architectural-urban design as well as structural and technical solutions of the building.
