The bachelor thesis deals with the architectural and urban utilization of an infill site in the broader center of Prostějov. It responds to the long-term problem of suburbanization and population decline in the city core, where, paradoxically, a number of underutilized plots under municipal ownership are located. The project site is situated on a prominent corner along the footprint of the former historical city walls. The aim of the design is to create a mixed-use urban building that effectively densifies the built environment, responds to the given urban context, and offers opportunities for high-quality contemporary housing.

The architectural expression of the building respects the historical legacy of the city. It works with materials typical of the local Art Nouveau and Functionalist boom, such as textured and scraped renders and stone. However, it transforms these traditional elements into a modern form, thereby introducing an attractive and confident character to the city center. A significant aspect of the thesis is the emphasis on the spatial and economic rationality of the layouts. The efficient arrangement helps to optimize construction costs, thereby increasing the affordability of the proposed housing.

An active ground floor, which brings civic amenities to the area, plays a crucial role in the design. Alongside modern commercial retail spaces, a separate climbing center facility is also integrated into it. Together, these facilities act as a community catalyst that revitalizes the previously unused surroundings. The quality of housing is further enhanced by a shared roof terrace, which offers residents attractive recreational green space overlooking the city.
