Severe aortic stenosis imposes severe pressure overload on the left ventricle, leading to compensatory hypertrophy and increases cardiac energy expenditure. This thesis presents a mathematical model of the cardiovascular system integrating the time-varying elastance, 3- and 2-element Windkessel models for systemic and pulmonary arterial and venous circulation, and a lumped-parameter coronary circulation model to analyse global cardiac energy balance in severe aortic stenosis. One-Factor-At-A-Time and global sensitivity analyses identified heart rate, systemic arterial resistance, coronary microvascular resistance, and blood volume as the primary determinants of energy stability. Simulations of syncopal episodes revealed significantly higher prevalence of energy imbalance in severe aortic stenosis.

Student prezentoval výsledky své práce a komise byla seznámena s posudky. Doc. Gumulec položil otázku: Na základě čeho jste model vytvářel? Jsou tam nějaké limity v chybovosti? Model funguje lineárně? Je to omezení? Student obhájil bakalářskou práci a odpověděl na otázky členů komise a oponenta.
