This bachelor’s thesis investigates the synthesis and characterization of alginate-based hydrogels incorporated with iron oxide nanoparticles for potential applications in targeted drug delivery. Citrate-stabilized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (∼11 nm) were synthesized via chemical coprecipitation and embedded into alginate matrices using external (CaCl2) and internal (CaCO3/D-glucono-δ-lactone) ionotropic gelation. The structural and chemical properties of the nanocomposites and the nanoparticles them selves were evaluated using TEM, SEM, EDX, XPS, and FTIR spectroscopy. Subsequent analysis of swelling kinetics and hydrolytic degradation under physiological conditions (PBS, 37 ∘C) revealed significant differences in matrix stability. Externally gelated hydrogels exhibited massive swelling (up to 141%) and rapid structural degradation. Conversely, internal gelation produced homogeneous matrices with restricted swelling (∼20%) and improved long-term stability, allowing them to retain nearly 70% of their initial mass even after 21 days.

Studentka prezentovala výsledky své práce a komise byla seznámena s posudky. Ing. Zumberg položila otázku: Jakým způsobem by docházelo k uvolňování těchto léčiv do budoucna? MUDr. Stračina položil otázku: V jakých aplikacích by šlo takovéto matrice použít? Pro jaké typy léčiv? Ing. Mézl položil otázku: Kde jste prováděla měření? Čím je daná hranice velikosti částic pro paramagnetismus? Studentka obhájila bakalářskou práci a odpověděla na otázky členů komise a oponenta.
