This diploma thesis presents an integrated mixed-signal CMOS system for in-memory sensing and computing of prostate cancer-related biomarkers using silicon nanowire (SiNW) biosensors. The work uses an SiNW equivalent model formed by a memristor connected in parallel with a biomarker concentration-dependent shunt capacitance. The model was calibrated according to voltage gap characteristics available in the literature and adapted to the 1 Hz stimulation frequency. Three main blocks were designed and verified in TSMC MS/RF 180 nm technology: a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) and Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) computing circuit, a free Prostate-Specific Antigen (fPSA) and PSA computing circuit, and a gap voltage detection circuit. In addition, the chip layout, manufacturing deliverables, test PCB, and control software for writing configuration into the internal chip memory were developed. After fabrication, the chip samples were visually inspected and measured using equivalent SiNW models on the test PCB. The results verified correct operation of the PSA/PSMA circuit, limited sensitivity of the fPSA/PSA circuit to fPSA, and basic functionality of the gap voltage detection circuit at the lowest clock prescaler settings.
