This bachelor’s thesis examines the influence of Parkinson’s disease on speech production and the possibilities of its automatic detection through acoustic analysis and machine learning methods. The theoretical part summarizes the manifestations of the disease, with a focus on hypokinetic dysarthria and disorders of phonation and articulation. The practical part is divided into two logical sections. The first focuses on the design and implementation of a program for the automatic selection of phonetically identical segments from speech signals. In the second part, key acoustic features are extracted from these selected segments and used to train and test machine learning classification models such as Support Vector Machine and Logit Boost. The outcome of the thesis is a complete and fully automated software pipeline that integrates medical knowledge with digital signal processing and classification, providing an objective tool to support the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
