This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the design of a system allowing the safe brumation of tortoises without the need to handle the captive individuals. First, the thesis summarizes the necessary facts about the brumation of tortoises. The next topic is the design of the system, with an emphasis on minimizing the occurrence of faults or their consequences through a risk analysis inspired by the FMEA method. The following chapters focus on the selection of key system components, the software architecture, the design of three distinct devices and the implementation of the entire system in the enclosure of two Hermann's tortoises.
Tortoise hibernaculum, temperature regulation, internet of things, embedded system, reliability, system on module, FMEA
