This bachelor’s thesis deals with the measurement of scattering parameters using a vector network analyser and the methods of transforming measurement results from the frequency domain into the time domain (TD-VNA). The theoretical part describes the principles of S-parameters, the operation of a vector network analyser, the transformation between frequency and time domains using the Fourier transform, and the principle of time gating used for selective processing of time-domain responses. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a software solution enabling TD-VNA data processing even for analysers without built-in time-domain functionality. The developed application allows loading data from a VNA or from files, transforming signals between frequency, time, and distance domains, applying time gates, and visualizing measurement results. The functionality of the implemented algorithms was verified using several experimental tasks focused on reflection analysis, localization of impedance discontinuities, cable length measurement, and suppression of unwanted reflections. The obtained results confirm the practical usability of the developed solution for laboratory and demonstration applications of the TD-VNA method.
