This master’s thesis focuses on the design, software implementation, and experimental verification of an automated helium recovery system, aimed at minimizing the loss of this rare gas during leak detection processes. The main objective was to develop a control program for a programmable logic controller within the TIA Portal environment and a human-machine interface to ensure precise mixing and conditioning of the recovered mixture to the target concentration. Two gas dosing methods were compared: active control using mass flow controllers and passive dosing utilizing capillaries. The proposed system was subjected to operational testing simulating real recovery cycles, mixture composition disturbance compensation, and tightness tests. The results demonstrate that both methods achieve high precision, with a mean absolute error of 0.42 percentage points. This thesis delivers a comprehensive solution for a recovery station and formulates guidelines for its deployment and optimization in industrial practice.
