This diploma thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a modular hardware platform intended for the Internet of Things (IoT), supporting both licensed and un- licensed communication technologies. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of selected IoT technologies, their characteristics, communication principles, and areas of application. Special attention is paid to the differences between tech- nologies operating in licensed frequency bands and those utilizing unlicensed frequency bands. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the design of the modular platform based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5. The implementation process included the cre- ation of the schematic design, the development of a four-layer printed circuit board, and the integration of high-speed communication interfaces such as HDMI, USB, and Ethernet. During the design process, emphasis was placed on differential pair routing, power distribution, and electromagnetic compatibility. The PCB was subsequently man- ufactured and assembled, while several components had to be soldered manually due to their unavailability within the automated assembly process. The final part of the thesis is dedicated to the bring-up process of the designed platform, functionality testing of individual interfaces, and the implementation of the basic software environment. The result of the thesis is a functional modular platform suitable for further development and integration of various IoT technologies and expansion modules.
