This bachelor thesis deals with the design and realization of a fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer for sensing applications and its use in a laboratory exercise. The theoretical part summarizes the basic principles of fiber optics, interference, optical phase, optical path length and coherence. The practical part describes the realization of two measurement setups. The first measurement verifies the acoustic-vibration sensitivity of the interferometer and compares its behavior in balanced and unbalanced arm configurations. The results show that the recorded interference signal changes due to external mechanical action on the optical fiber and that exceeding the coherence length reduces the stability of the interference signal. The second measurement evaluates the influence of heating the measuring arm on the interference signal. The temperature experiment showed phase drift and sensitivity to ambient acoustic and mechanical disturbances, which affected its suitability for a student laboratory exercise. Based on the results, a laboratory manual was prepared, focused mainly on acoustic detection, coherence length and measurement of optical path length using time delay.

Student prezentoval výsledky své práce a komise byla seznámena s posudky. Student obhájil bakalářskou práci a odpověděl na otázky členů komise a oponenta. Otázky: 1) Jaký vliv mají změny polarizace na interferometrická měření a jakým způsobem se to v praxi řeší? 2) Co se stane v případě interference dvou vln s odlišnou frekvencí? 3) Jaky vliv na parametry interferometru ma vlnova delka? 4) Jaké jsou limity funkčnosti interferometru? 5) Jaká je celková délka trasy? 6) K akusticko-vibračnímu měření, vybral jste dvě frekvence, bylo to za nějakým účelem? 7) Uvažujete o budoucím rozvoji práce z pohledu akustiky?
