This diploma thesis focuses on the process of designing a device for converting MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) messages into changes in a transmitted DMX512 (Digital Multiplex with 512 channels) lighting control signal. The design builds upon a previous design created as a part of the author’s bachelor thesis and aims to improve it, addressing limitations discovered during long-term usage of the original design. The device runs on a custom printed circuit board featuring the STM32F302R8T6 microcontroller, house inside a custom 3D-printed case. It is capable of processing incoming Note On, Note Off and Control Change MIDI messages, utilizing a user-configurable conversion table implemented using an indexed addressing structure that enables constanttime mapping of MIDI messages to corresponding DMX512 signal changes stored in secondary memory. To improve performance, direct memory access (DMA) and timer interrupts are utilized to allow for simultaneous MIDI reception, message processing and DMX512 signal transmission. In addition, a desktop application was developed, which allows for configuring the conversion table as well as monitoring the device’s status via a USB connection. The resulting system provides an efficient and accessible solution for synchronizing stage lighting and effects with music.

Student prezentoval výsledky své práce a komise byla seznámena s posudky. Otázky oponenta a komise: 1. Kvantifikujte výpočetní nároky Vašeho algoritmu konverze ve formě firmware použitého MCU STM32F302. Jaká je rezerva výpočetního výkonu pro funkci systému v reálném čase? 2. Popište způsob, jakým byste dokázal analyticky formou opakovatelných a dokumentovatelných testů či měření zhodnotit funkci Vámi řešeného zařízení. Student obhájil diplomovou práci a odpověděl na otázky členů komise a oponenta.
