This work focuses on cybersecurity in intelligent transportation systems and teleoperated vehicle control, reviews current security threats, and evaluates suitable cryptographic protocols and libraries for secure remote operation, with an emphasis on the possible future threat of quantum computers. The work compares the classical cryptographic approach with post-quantum and hybrid approaches. The main outcome is research and a comparison of protocols that can be implemented in Java for teleoperation, including a test implementation with simulated communication using dual-layer encryption with PQC encryption on the application layer, working over QUIC, DTLS 1.2, and pure UDP as transport protocols.
