Abstract:

Subject of this bachelor thesis is a design and project documentation of a
detached house in Syrovice, Czech Republic. The building has two above ground storeys and has partial basement. Structurally the building contains porotherm blocks as load bearing walls, plasterboard partitions and monolithic slabs. Building has flat roof. The building is designed with architectonical and functional aspects for given locality.

Process of defence

The student presented her bachelor's thesis, the building's location, and the basic design parameters. She also presented the proposed structural system and material selection. The student also presented the assessment of the building that she had conducted. The student then responded to the oponent's questions. Student was asked: - if the building were to be located less than 2 m from the site boundary, what additional requirements and procedures would need to be considered? are the proposed lintel bearings sufficient for the width of the opening? what is the minimum permitted door width according to the applicable regulations? what is the minimum required height of a window sill in residential buildings?- what limitations must be considered when designing the terrace entrance railing in relation to the drainage of the terrace floor?- how is the slope of the flat roof around the service opening designed and executed? - what principles should be followed to ensure the safe design of a flat roof? Have these principles been applied in the project, and what are the current recommendations? is thermal insulation provided beneath the garage substructure? Is the selected material solution appropriate? describe the proposed construction sequence step by step. the garage drawings do not show the residential building and therefore do not demonstrate the relationship between the two structures. - How have these interactions been considered in the design? what is the geotechnical classification of the foundation soil? if reinforced concrete strip foundations are used, how must the construction site be prepared before foundation works begin? What requirements must be met to ensure proper placement and protection of the main reinforcement? what are the dimensions of the staircase structure? What are the regulatory limits for the tread depth and riser height?which staircase dimensions must be assessed to ensure safe clearance beneath an overlying flight of stairs? The student demonstrates insufficient understanding of the fundamental technical relationships necessary for the development of a technically sound design. The student lacks knowledge of basic construction laws and is unable to apply them.
