The subject of this bachelor thesis is the elaboration of a technical study focusing on the modification of the intersection of roads I/53 and II/397. This intersection is heavily trafficked and represents an important transport link in the given area. The main reason for developing a new design is the inadequate layout of the current intersection, where it is necessary to increase safety and ensure smoother traffic flow. Furthermore, the conducted capacity assessment clearly showed that the current state of the intersection is insufficient regarding future traffic volumes, primarily due to the exhausted capacity for left turns from the minor road. Therefore, three design variants were proposed within the study, aiming to resolve these issues and increase the throughput of the intersection. Finally, based on a detailed evaluation, the most suitable of these three options was selected.
