Abstract:

This diploma thesis builds on a studio project developed during the winter semester of the second year of the master’s degree programme. It focuses on the design of the reconstruction and extension of Gymnázium Matyáše Lercha in Brno, including the transformation of the adjoining school grounds and the wider public space.
The aim of the thesis is to create a higher-quality, more legible and functionally richer environment for students, school staff and residents of the surrounding area. The design responds to the current condition of the building and its grounds, particularly to the need for operational extension, revitalisation of outdoor spaces and the elimination of unused or insufficiently defined areas. An important aspect of the proposal is the work with the sloping terrain, the connection between interior and exterior spaces, and the creation of new areas for study, recreation, sports and community activities.
The architectural design respects the original character of the gymnasium and its connection to Brno functionalism, while introducing a contemporary layer that reflects current requirements for educational environments. The result is a proposal that strengthens the role of the school as an important institution within the area and, at the same time, opens it more towards public life.

Studentka přišla a představila se. Započala prezentaci své diplomové práce. Prezentace byla zcela plynulá bez nedostatků. Byly přečteny posudky vedoucího a oponenta práce. Následovaly dotazy oponenta: 1) Jaký byl důvod autora k výrazné demolici centrálního schodišťového prostoru? Popiště důvody, proč nemohla být tato část citlivěji rekonstruována. Reakce autora: Autorka vnímá centrální prostor jako barikádu k nově navržené aule. Pracuje s pohledovou osou. V jádru školy vytváří příležitost pro odpočinek studentů. 2) Popište bezbariérové řešení stavby a pohyb imobilních uvnitř objektu. Reakce autora: Studentka pohyb imobilních vysvětluje pomocí prohlídky objektu. Komentuje pohyb do učeben, jídelny i zapojení imobilních do volnočasových aktivit. Otázky a přípomínky komise k návrhu: 1) Zelená střecha - přístupnost pro kontrolu. Reakce autora: Studentka v návrhu přístup na střechu nemá zmíněnou. Pohotově reaguje s možnostmi řešení. 2) Diskuze nad dispozičními změnami atria. Uvolnění atria je vnímáno jako pozitivum. Proč bylo zvoleno nové umístění jídelny. 3) Jak bude fungovat prostor mezi přístavbou a levým křídlem Reakce autora: Popis multifunkčního využití prostoru a koncepci poutavosti i pro veřejnost během akcí. 4) Řešení šířky hlavního schodiště komise má pochybnosti o nedostatečné šířce schodiště pro ranní provoz školy.
