Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis addresses the issues and possibilities of utilizing waste insulation materials in asphalt mixtures. The objective of the work was to assess the potential of this construction waste. The theoretical part describes the properties and processing procedures of asphalt shingles, as well as research findings regarding the addition of shingles to asphalt mixtures. The practical part outlines individual laboratory testing procedures, including binder extraction from asphalt shingles, needle penetration, softening point determination, and the characterization of properties of asphalt binder using a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR). Finally, the results of these tests are processed and evaluated in the conclusion of the thesis.

Keywords:

Asphalt mixture, asphalt binder asphalt shingles, recovery of extracted binder, needle penetration, softening point, dynamic shear rheometer.
