Abstract:

The diploma thesis Where a Human Touches the Earth explores transformations in the relationship between humans and landscape, and the ways in which this relationship is expressed both visually and symbolically. The work examines the subtle boundary between harmony and disruption, between care and intervention. The artworks depict both specific landscape situations and the inner landscape of the human being. The landscape is understood here as a space of relationships, memory, and shifting meanings, shaped through a dialogue between the human and the non-human world.

The thesis shows that even a seemingly subtle human presence leads to changes in the landscape and reveals the ambivalent nature of this relationship – a desire for harmony that is inseparably linked to the need to influence and shape space. The body of work consists of pyrographic drawings on wooden panels combined with oil paintings on canvas.

Studentka představila diplomovou práci založenou na cyklu obrazů a pyrografií, které zkoumají vztah člověka a přírody, otázku otisku lidského jednání do krajiny a roli pozorovatele a vlastníka prostoru. V obrazech pracuje s více rovinami motivu, kde se figurální prvky postupně vytrácejí a přírodní složka převažuje. Součástí prezentace je kombinace olejomalby a pyrografie do dřeva, kterou komise hodnotí pozitivně zejména pro materiálovou citlivost a práci se strukturou podkladu. Studentka vysvětluje, že motivy vznikají ze skic a aktivní imaginace a práce je pojímána jako otevřená série bez pevného narativu. Vedoucí práce i oponentka hodnotí technologii a vizuální kvality práce kladně, zároveň otevírají otázky k povaze motivů (archetypální vs. osobní), instalaci souboru a jeho narativní soudržnosti. V následné rozpravě studentka odpovídá na otázky k procesu tvorby, použitým technikám (včetně lazur a práce s pyrografií) i k dalšímu směřování. Komise oceňuje kresebnost pyrografie a doporučuje více pracovat s reliéfním potenciálem materiálu.
