Abstract:

The short film Homo Homini Ursus explores the relationship between humans and nature, specifically through the lens of hunting and the current issue of bear population control in Slovakia.
The story follows a hunter who is determined to catch a bear. Throughout the story, he experiences strange dreamlike visions, in which it is deliberately ambiguous whether they are reality or projections of his subconscious.
On the day he decides to go on a real hunt and gets the chance to shoot the bear, a fundamental inner crisis occurs. Confrontation with the real situation leads to a moment of awakening, on the basis of which the hunter decides not to kill the bear.
The film employs a minimalist plot and emphasizes atmosphere, sensory perception, and the character’s inner experience. It employs elements of contemplative cinema, particularly a slow pace, minimal dialogue, and the blending of reality with dreamlike imagery. The film asks the viewer to what extent they themselves are part of nature and a hunter, while also gently satirizing hunting as a conservative cult and ritual.

Studentka preferuje nejdříve představit svůj film. Následně jsou přečteny posudky vedoucí a oponenta. Studentka se následně vyjadřuje k posudkům a přednáší svou obhajobu. Komise a studentka dále debatují o jednotlivých aspektech filmu. Podle komise je těžký koncept zpracován těžkým způsobem, oceňuje ale celkovou práci a dynamiku celého snímku. Komise uvažuje nad první scénou filmu, kterou někteří považují za mírně matoucí. Studentka rozumí komentáři a objasňuje své záměry použití jednotlivých snímků. Komise se dotazuje, zda bude studentka ve studiu pokračovat. Studentka odpovídá, že ano. Komise dále dává studentce možné referenční a inspirační zdroje a oceňuje celkovou práci studentky. Studentka popisuje, že záměrem bylo, aby film nešel chronologicky, a snažila se podpořit bezčasovost. Komise dále uvažuje nad jednotlivými detaily filmu a nad tím, zda je vhodné řešit téma zcela apoliticky, pokud už politizováno je. Předseda komise ukončuje debatu po uplynutí časového limitu.
