Abstract:

The thesis Once Upon A Thread explores the relationship between the past and the present within the visual language of fashion and fashion photography, focusing on the reinterpretation of 1980s aesthetics through women’s clothing. The project addresses the question of female identity within specifically constructed silhouettes and examines the tension between masculinity and femininity characteristic of the period. Emphasis is placed not only on the silhouette, but also on structure and detail as fundamental visual principles. The outcome of the thesis is a photographic editorial presenting a collection of women’s suits created in collaboration with fashion designer Zuzana Hliněná. The editorial is realized through stylized digital photography, which emphasizes the relationship between the body, garment, and image. The project thus offers a contemporary interpretation of a historical fashion phenomenon and situates it within the context of contemporary visual culture.

Studentka zahájila prezentaci performativním vstupem prostřednictvím příchodu modelek do instalace tvořené velkoformátovými fotografiemi. Vysvětlila volbu prostoru i využití performativního prvku a instalaci tematizovala jako dialog mezi minulostí a současností. Jako klíčový inspirační zdroj uvedla estetiku módy 80. let, které chápe jako období formování ženského sebevědomí. Po přečtení posudků odpověděla na otázky komise. V rozpravě byla diskutována použitá instalační strategie, práce s rekvizitami a jejich významy. Komise studentce doporučila do budoucna uvažovat o konceptu spekulativního modního brandu či spekulativní módní fotografie. Studentka závěrem zhodnotila své studium na FAVU.
