The industrial processing of aggressive wastewater and brines encounters the limits of conventional stainless steel evaporation stations, which are susceptible to corrosion and require high investment costs. For this reason, systems utilizing chemically resistant polymeric materials are coming to the forefront of interest. The presented thesis deals with the completion of the construction and subsequent experimental verification of a laboratory prototype of a three-stage vacuum evaporator with a polypropylene body. Within the thesis, the apparatus was integrated into the laboratory infrastructure by constructing heating and cooling circuits, and the circulation of the process fluid was ensured. Furthermore, the prototype was equipped with digital sensors for continuous data collection, which served as a basis for balance calculations. Subsequent experiments with a saline solution demonstrated the system's sensitivity to sudden pressure changes and identified limiting operating conditions. At an operating fluid temperature of 40 °C and continuous cooling regulation, the device achieved stable phase separation, producing high-purity condensate with an average conductivity below 20 μS/cm. Comparison of the experimental data with the original design model revealed differences in absolute pressure values and a low achievable flow rate, which was caused by undersized piping and the absence of hydraulic seals. Based on these findings, specific structural modifications for increasing piping capacity were proposed to enable the further development of this low-cost evaporation system.
