Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the practical application of the compact city theory and the Soft City concept. Its aim is to conduct a comprehensive urban analysis and multi-criteria evaluation of the quality of public spaces in the Vinohrady district in Prague. The theoretical part defines the causes and consequences of urban sprawl and presents compact development as a sustainable solution based on short distances, mixed-use zoning, and a human scale. The practical part then applies the public space evaluation methodology developed by Danish architect Jan Gehl to three representative locations: a transit hub, a commercial avenue, and a residential street. Field research revealed that although the block structure of Vinohrady provides an excellent foundation for community life, the quality of the street space is critically diminished by intense car traffic and a lack of non-commercial street furniture. The conclusion of the thesis presents conceptual proposals for traffic calming, pedestrian-oriented street profile adaptation, and the implementation of blue-green infrastructure elements with the aim of increasing the overall livability of the area.

Není to zavádějící? Procházející lidé nejsou zahrnuti? Proč Praha a ne Brno? Studentka výborně reagovala a zaujímal svoje stanovisko ke všem připomínkám k předložené BP od oponenta i členů komise.
