Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the urban analysis of selected suburban areas in the Czech Republic and the United States, with an emphasis on the quality of public space and urban life. The theoretical framework introduces the structure of the urban environment, the characteristics of suburban neighborhoods, and the applicability of modern urban theories to peripheral urban areas, relying primarily on Jan Jehlík’s concept of "buildings, space, life". The practical section presents a detailed comparative case study of the Černá Pole neighborhood in Brno and the North Beacon Hill area in the United States. Based on field research, land-use analysis, and views from a resident, the thesis evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of both approaches to suburbanization. The final section formulates specific methodological recommendations and urban planning measures designed to assist urban designers and planners in revitalizing residential districts, mitigating the negative impacts of urban sprawl, and improving the overall quality of life for local residents.

Student představil komisi formou prezentace svoji bakalářskou práci a reagoval na připomínky a dotazy od oponenta vyjádřené v oponentském posudku i na otázky členů komise. Během obhajoby položili členové komise následující otázky: Ing. arch. Adam Guzdek, Ph.D. – Proč jste si vybral Černá pole chápu, ale proč jste si vybral tuto oblast v USA? Jsou vaše zvolená místa vhodně vybraná? Nebylo by vhodnější vybrat v Brně jinou čtvrť než Černá pole pro porovnání? Ing. Gabriela Kocourková, Ph.D. – Kde byste chtěl v Černých polích udělat to jádro? Popište oblast a řešení. doc. Ing. Zdenka Lhotáková, CSc. – Máte dobře zvolené oblasti kde by mohly jádra vzniknout. Šlo by přidat do vašeho návrhu ještě někde jádro v Černých polích než Vaše navržená? Student výborně reagoval a zaujímal svoje stanovisko ke všem připomínkám k předložené BP (DP) od oponenta i členů komise.
