Graphene hydrogenation can open a bandgap in an otherwise semimetal material, improving its on/off ratio in transistor application and enabling control over surface reactivity. This master's thesis aims to generate a machine--learned force field for interatomic interaction of carbon (C) atoms of graphene and hydrogen (H) atoms at various distances using on--the--fly learning with Bayesian uncertainty quantification implemented in the Vienna Ab initio Simulations Package code. Multiple arrangements of H atoms on the surface and adsorption trajectories of atomic H onto different surface structures are simulated and added to the training set of the resulting force field. The force field is then tested on surfaces and adsorption onto surfaces with higher coverage and outside the learned adsorption sites. The density of states and the band structure of the most stable configuration in terms of binding energy of H and of a structure with a periodic arrangement of H on the surface are calculated and compared to the non--covered surface.
