The subject of this master's thesis is an architectural study of the northeastern part of the Brno Zoo premises, the so-called economic yard, which is intended to accommodate most of the technical operations essential for the running of the zoo. The study is based on a specific brief formulated by the breeders and the management of the Brno Zoo. The purpose of the study was to develop a feasible design variant for the area and its three most critical facilities, which can subsequently serve as a baseline for future development and modernization. The most prominent structures within the analyzed area are the breeding facility, the quarantine station, and the veterinary clinic. The breeding facility integrates the husbandry of birds, small carnivores, primates, amphibians, and other small mammals with the breeding of large carnivores and large ungulates. This facility houses animals that are unsuitable for public display and will likely also serve as a CITES centre. The quarantine station receives new animals prior to their introduction to the zoo, facilitates necropsies of deceased animals, and enables the isolation of infectious animals in the event of disease outbreaks. It also includes an adjacent knackery box for animal remains, which must be accessible from outside the zoo premises. The veterinary clinic building serves as a medical care hub for the majority of the zoo's animal species and is complemented by an auditorium for students from the faculty of veterinary medicine. The site under study is sloped and currently contains a number of structurally and functionally inadequate facilities earmarked for demolition.

Student představil komisi svoji práci formou prezentace. Představil problémový výkres, situační výkresy, půdorysy, řezy, pohledy, vizualizace, konstrukční a materiálové řešení. Následně student reagoval na připomínky a reakce oponenta. 1. Vysvětlete, prosím, v textu i ve výkresech hojně používaný pojem "zamýšlen". 2. Vysvětlete zásady bezpečné manipulace s rizikovými zvířaty, které jsou použity ve Vašem návrhu chovatelských objektů. 3. Vysvětlete manipulaci s balíky sena do 3.NP ke shozům na seno. Jak se tam dostanou? Předseda komise se ptá, zda má student řešen nějakou garáž pro stroje a mechanismy. Předseda se ptá, zda se vozidla a mechanizace vyhnou na 4 metrové komunikaci navržené sstudentem. Student odpovídá. Předseda zmiňuje, že ve studentově návrhu může být problém s odvozem splaškových a odpadních vod. Komise zmiňuje malý manipulační prostor před velkým nákladním výtahem. Dále komise upozorňuje na problém z požárního hlediska - zda tam projede hasičský vůz. Dále jak student bude udržovat komunikace v zimě. Student odpovídá. Komise přechází k obhajobě. Komise se ptá na řešení krmiště a likvidaci odpadu. Jaké jsou použity dveře? Jak je řešena bezpečnost pro zvířata, aby se nezranila? Nemůže je zranit otevření dvoukřídlých dveří? Máte značený pohyb veřejnosti-máte nějak ošetřeno, aby veřejnost nešla mezi zvířata? Následně se přechází na ústní část SZZ.
