This diploma thesis deals with the technology of high-feed milling of AISI 316L stainless steel and the experimental evaluation of selected cutting tool systems intended for this machining strategy. The main objective of the thesis is to assess the influence of insert geometry and cooling conditions on the machining process, particularly in terms of tool life, surface quality, process stability, and energy consumption. The experimental part focuses on the comparison of high-feed milling cutters and interchangeable cutting inserts manufactured by Dijet Industrial Co., LTD, Dormer Pramet s.r.o., and Tungaloy Czech s.r.o. Machining tests were carried out on a Haas VF-2SSYT vertical machining centre under two cooling conditions, namely compressed-air cooling and flood cooling with cutting fluid. During the experiments, particular attention was paid to the development of tool wear, the quality of the machined surface, the stability of the cutting process, and the energy demands of the individual tool systems. The thesis also includes a theoretical analysis of high-feed milling technology, machinability of stainless steels, wear mechanisms of cutting tools, and the influence of cooling and lubrication strategies on the cutting process. The obtained results are evaluated from both technical and economic perspectives and provide a basis for assessing the suitability of individual tool geometries for industrial applications and further development of high-feed milling tools.
