This thesis deals with the analysis of nonlinear piezoelectric vibration energy harvesters utilizing fifth-order nonlinearity, which enables the emergence of a tristable potential topology. The main objective is to assess whether this configuration can increase the efficiency of broadband energy harvesting compared to bistable models. Simulation results show that after successfully overcoming the potential barriers, the symmetric tristable potential generates higher electrical power with a stable periodic signal, whereas the equivalent bistable system exhibits a chaotic response across a wider spectrum of parameters. However, the tristable design is limited by the presence of the central well, which acts as a dynamic trap and reduces the reliability of activating large-amplitude oscillations from random initial conditions. In this regard, the bistable system proves to be operationally more reliable and less sensitive to the initial state. The overall evaluation indicates that the choice of an optimal harvester requires balancing the demands for power and operational reliability. The tristable configuration represents a suitable solution for applications with predictable harmonic excitation, where its higher power and signal stability can be utilized. For environments with random vibrations, on the other hand, the bistable system is preferable, as it more reliably overcomes potential barriers
