In an ever-evolving environment, such as civil aviation, there is a great emphasis on expansion and development, while maintaining high safety standards. This diploma thesis inquires into the assessment of current operational capabilities of Piešťany airport, focusing on the infrastructure and offered services. The main objective is to identify areas and elements of the airport infrastructure that limit further development of the airport, with regards to the accommodation and handling of aircraft. The research part of this thesis is divided into two chapters, representing two separate ways of assessing the operational capabilities of the airport. The first part consists of an analysis focusing on flight performance of the current critical aircraft types, taking into account different payloads and fuel amounts in order to determine possible destinations for each aircraft type. In the second part, the goal is to draft an operational safety assessment for a new critical aircraft type, in this case it is Airbus A321neo-XLR, which would potentially be the highest performance airplane for the airport, considering range and transport capacity. The results from the research part of this thesis, apart from potential destinations, define conditions which would enable the operation of the new critical aircraft type, as well as limits associated with this operation.

Student nejprve prezentoval výsledky, kterých dosáhl v rámci své práce. Komise se poté seznámila s hodnocením vedoucího a posudkem oponenta práce. Student následně odpověděl na otázky oponenta a na další otázky přítomných např.: Dávala by přestavba letiště ekonomický smysl? Student otázky zodpověděl uspokojivě.
