This thesis deals with chaos in discrete and continuous dynamical systems. The fundamental concepts of the theory of dynamical systems and the characteristics of chaotic behavior are introduced. Furthermore, two prominent chaotic systems -- the logistic map and the Lorenz system -- are analyzed. For each of them, its continuous or discrete analogy is derived and studied, with an emphasis placed on the presence of chaotic behavior. The results demonstrate that the behavior of the discretized models critically depends on the choice of the time step.
