This bachelor’s thesis addresses the issue of treating industrial wastewater using membrane processes, particularly in the dairy industry. The main drawback of these technologies is membrane fouling, which can be prevented by operating the system below the critical permeate flux. The theoretical section of the thesis includes a comprehensive review of membrane processes and their practical applications. The main objective of the practical part was the experimental determination of this critical value during microfiltration of model dairy wastewater using a tubular ceramic membrane. Based on the evaluation of experimental data, it was found that the critical flux ranges from 120 to 150 l/(m^2∙h). For real-world industrial applications, it is recommended to operate the system 10 to 20% below this determined limit. However, the results of this work were partially influenced by the limitations of the control system and the use of model water. Therefore, as part of the future research, it is recommended to optimize flow control, reduce the step size of the permeate flow rate, and conduct measurements using actual wastewater.
