This master’s thesis deals with the rationalization of the machining process of a pinion housing intended for railway vehicle gearboxes manufactured by Wikov MGI. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the existing manufacturing technology, identify unproductive stages of the production process, and propose a more efficient manufacturing method. The thesis describes the function and design of the component, including the requirements for dimensional and geometric accuracy. Subsequently, the current technological process is analyzed, including rough and finish turning, drilling, milling, heat treatment, and grinding.The thesis also includes a review of issues related to the machining of the pinion housing and the selection of suitable manufacturing equipment. Based on technical and economic requirements, the DMG MORI NTX3000 turn-mill center was selected, enabling the integration of multiple operations into a single workstation. Furthermore, a new manufacturing technology is proposed, and the creation of a CNC program in a CAD/CAM environment is described.The final part contains a technical and economic evaluation of the proposed solution. This includes a comparison of the production times and costs of the original and the new technology, as well as the determination of the minimum production batch required to achieve economic efficiency. The proposed solution contributes to reduced production times, lower costs, and increased manufacturing productivity.

Diplomant seznámil komisi s obsahem a výsledky své diplomové práce a zodpověděl otázky vedoucího, oponenta a dalších členů komise. V průběhu obhajoby byly zodpovězeny následující doplňující otázky: 1. Kde byl problém ve stávající technologii? Z kolika možných návrhů na racionalizaci procesu jste vycházel? zodpovězeno 2.
