This bachelor’s thesis deals with the design, development, and practical verification of a technological process for manufacturing a corrosion-resistant cover intended for a shock absorber used in woodworking machines. The main objective of the thesis was to design a suitable manufacturing method for the component and to select appropriate cutting tools, measuring instruments, and cutting conditions, which were subsequently verified through practical production. The component was manufactured from corrosion-resistant steel. Production was carried out on a CNC lathe TAKISAWA TM-2000Y2 in a single clamping operation, which contributed to higher machining accuracy and simplification of the manufacturing process. A round bar with a diameter of 85 mm was used as the initial semi-finished product. Turning, milling, and drilling technologies were applied during the manufacturing process. Turning operations were used for machining the front faces, outer diameters, hole, and thread, while milling was used to create a groove and drilling was applied to produce the required holes. After machining, the component was marked with the required text using a laser engraving machine. Subsequently, important dimensions were inspected using suitable measuring instruments. The result of the thesis is a designed and practically verified technological manufacturing process for the given component.
