Synthetic antiferromagnetic (SAF) systems represent a promising platform for next-generation devices. SAF multilayers composed of ferromagnets separated by non-magnetic spacers offer high stability and fast spin dynamics. This thesis focuses on the characterization, magnetic imaging and current-induced domain wall (DW) motion in SAFs with in-plane magnetic anisotropy. Using vibrating sample magnetometry, magneto-optical Kerr microscopy and magnetic force microscopy the interlayer exchange coupling and DW structure were fully analyzed. The experimental results were successfully compared with macrospin model and MuMax3 micromagnetic simulations. Analysis of current-induced DW motion experimentally demonstrated bi-directional motion character with varying asymmetric velocities, some exceeding 1 km/s. Dynamic MuMax3 simulations revealed Oersted field as the main driving mechanism. The largest relative velocity asymmetry reaching over 300 % was attributed to the interplay between DW chirality and damping-like spin-orbit torque components.
