This diploma thesis focuses on the design of a blue-green urban ring in the city of Prostějov as a tool for the revitalization of public spaces, strengthening ecological stability, and improving conditions for pedestrian and cycling transport. The proposal responds to current urban issues, including the degradation of housing estate public spaces, insufficient use of the city’s green infrastructure potential, spatial barriers within the urban structure, and the dominance of automobile traffic. The urban concept creates an interconnected system of public spaces based on the utilization of the Hloučela biocorridor, residential green areas, and brownfield sites located along the western, southern, and eastern parts of the city. The main principle of the proposal is the creation of a continuous blue-green ring connecting individual parts of Prostějov through a system of public greenery, water-management elements, and pedestrian and cycling routes. The project aims to implement principles of blue-green infrastructure, sustainable stormwater management, and support for sustainable mobility. A key component of the proposed urban ring is the newly designed area behind the main railway station, which currently represents an urban barrier formed by neglected industrial areas, brownfields, and transport infrastructure. The proposal transforms this area into a new multifunctional urban district called “Mezi Valy,” which becomes an important segment of the entire blue-green ring and connects its northern and southern sections. The urban structure of the district is based on perimeter block development complemented by a system of public spaces, greenery, and measures mitigating the negative impacts of transport infrastructure. The design also includes new pedestrian and cycling connections integrated into the city-wide urban ring, together with civic amenities, sports facilities, and educational functions. The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate the potential transformation of neglected and underused urban areas through a comprehensive urban planning approach that integrates environmental, transportation, and social aspects of urban development while creating a new interconnected public space of city-wide importance.

Student představil svůj projekt diplomové práce na téma „Urbanistický návrh soudobé městské struktury (čtvrti) v kontextu historického města“. Popis urbanistické koncepce, funkčního a prostorového řešení působilo velmi přesvědčivě.
