Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the extended possibilities of using adhesion additives in asphalt mixtures and their influence on the properties of asphalt concrete mixture type ACO 11+. The theoretical part deals with the technology of production, transportation and paving of asphalt mixtures and with the principles of adhesion and low-temperature additives. The practical part is devoted to the experimental verification of the influence of a selected adhesion additive on the volumetric, physical and mechanical properties of the asphalt mixture. In the experimental programme, asphalt mixtures with different additive contents were produced under laboratory conditions. The bulk density and air void content of Marshall specimens compacted at different temperatures were determined. The work also included a control analysis of the asphalt mixture and testing of the recovered binder. The results confirmed that the presence of the adhesion additive affects the compaction behaviour and volumetric properties of the asphalt mixture, particularly its air void content. It was verified that, at an appropriate dosage, the required air void values can be achieved even at reduced compaction temperatures, indicating the potential for broader technological application of this additive.

Keywords:

Adhesion additive, low-temperature additive, asphalt mixture, compaction temperature, bulk density, air void content, Marshall specimens.
