The bachelor thesis deals with the measurement of residual austenite content in martensitic quenched hypereutectoid steel. The measurements were carried out using several methods, the principles of which are described in the thesis. For experimental verification, two samples with the same carbon concentration (1.1 wt.% C) but different quenching temperatures (770 °C and 930 °C) were prepared. For both samples, the as-quenched microstructure was evaluated using four methods: light microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and two different detectors in a scanning electron microscope (SEM). One was an electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) detector, while the other was an energy-selective backscattered electron (EsB) detector, used to verify the suitability of this method and compare the results with the others. In the first sample, quenched from the standard temperature (770 °C), residual austenite was barely detected by any of the methods. Therefore, the suitability of the approaches was assessed primarily on the sample quenched from the non-standard temperature (930 °C). In this sample, residual austenite was successfully measured and confirmed by all methods, including the EsB detector.
