The thesis deals with the creation of a mathematical model of a turbocharged gasoline combustion engine supplemented with an external low-pressure EGR system and its verification. The model is based on the production combustion engine 1.5 TSI 118 kW of the EA211 EVO 2 series. This model was then verified using data measured on a real engine with the same configuration. An engine model with an EGR circuit, including measuring elements and control links, was designed in the GT-SUITE environment. Based on the experimental data, practical operating limits of the system during real measurements were identified (especially condensation in the exhaust system during cold start and its effect on the differential pressure sensor). Subsequently, the EGR model was calibrated and the combustion model was optimized using the Design Optimizer tool so that the simulated characteristics corresponded to the measured curves. The results are evaluated in terms of combustion curve, power and loss parameters, and turbocharger load. Finally, the benefits of EGR in terms of NOₓ reduction and the impact on BSFC are discussed, including the limitations imposed by the production turbocharger used and recommendations for further follow-up work.
