This master's thesis focuses on the design of a service workbench for the repair of hydraulic cylinders used primarily in heavy mobile machinery. The thesis is based on an analysis of hydraulic cylinder design, typical failure modes, the repair procedure, and requirements for the safe handling of large-scale piston rods and cylinders. Particular attention is paid to the need for coaxial component alignment, the protection of functional surfaces, the containment of residual hydraulic fluid, and the transmission of high forces during disassembly and the loosening of threaded connections. Based on an evaluation of the existing service solution, a structural design for a new service workbench was developed. The design comprises a main segment, a mobile segment, supports, clamping and pressure elements, an oil drip tray, guide rails, a travel mechanism, and a loosening mechanism. The structure is designed as a welded steel assembly intended for handling heavy hydraulic components in a workshop environment. To validate the proposed design, a strength analysis using the finite element method (FEM) was performed. The computational model evaluated selected load cases corresponding to the extraction of the piston assembly and the loosening of connections. The results of the analysis enabled the evaluation of the stress and deformation behavior of the structure and verified its suitability for the intended operating conditions.
