Industrial X-ray computed tomography (CT) has become a~pivotal tool for non-destructive testing. Conventional acquisition methods, typically based on circular scan trajectories with fixed geometric parameters, impose limitations in terms of resolution, measurement speed, and flexibility, particularly when imaging planar objects. This dissertation investigates a~novel approach for task-specific scan optimization using variable zoom trajectories tailored to object geometry. The primary research question explores whether variable zoom CT can improve spatial resolution and reduce acquisition time without compromising measurement accuracy. To address this, the thesis presents an automatic algorithm that generates variable zoom trajectory from prior object model. The proposed method enables local magnification adaptation to enhance resolution in regions of interest. Geometric deviations introduced during zooming, such as rotation axis misalignment and focal spot drift, are identified as critical sources of degradation in image quality. Two correction strategies are developed: an offline correction algorithm using a~known reference object, and a~axis-of-rotation correction method based on online analysis of projection consistency. The latter effectively mitigates pose-dependent errors that degrade reconstruction fidelity. The potential of variable zoom trajectories to reduce acquisition time is also examined. Although employing variable zoom for field of view (FOV) extension showed limited performance gains, the proposed adaptive sampling strategy resulted in a~substantial reduction in the number of required projections while preserving spatial resolution. Results demonstrate that variable zoom trajectory enables resolution enhancement and acquisition time savings.

O její praktické relevanci svědčí úzká spolupráce s průmyslovým partnerem v průběhu doktorského studia i podaná patentová přihláška.
