This project deals with the cultivation of public space and bringing people back to the historic core of the town of Velké Němčice. The design of the square connects to its original location and addresses the symbolism of the nearby Svratka river and the associated agriculture that historically defined the town. The project strongly emphasizes an environmental approach – water retention in the landscape, planting trees in the space, a naturally landscaped park, and the sustainable architecture of the extension building, which is designed as a reassemblable timber frame with straw thermal insulation. The design also restores the chateau, integrating the town hall into it and returning its lost Baroque architectural character.
