This bachelor thesis deals with the design of an experimental apparatus for measuring the force load and deformations of graphite contact packing sealing. The first part presents an overview of used seals divided according to the principle of operation. Furthermore, definitions of monitored parameters significant for the seal design are introduced. Along with the definitions, the procedure for measuring individual parameters is also explained. All of this is the subject of ČSN EN 13555. A list of used materials is also a part of the first section. Another topic of the research is sample calculations. The topics include the determination of the tightening torque according to the norm ČSN EN 1591 - 1, physically justified assumptions of flange behaviour, a description of the mathematical model of hyperelastic materials, and last but not least, the lateral stress coefficient. The second part introduces the final measuring apparatus. Along with the model and diagram of the apparatus, a list of considered gauges is also included in the second part of this work. The third part addresses the recording of the experiment. It presents the courses of force loads, measured deformations, and the calculated substitute modulus of elasticity for 2 experiments. An integral part is the determination of the measurement procedure. The last part discusses further modifications of the apparatus. It presents unpublishable experiments and the future of the designed experimental apparatus.
