This bachelor's thesis deals with the aerodynamic design and computational analysis of wing airfoils for a radio-controlled (RC) model aircraft, focusing on the STOL (Short TakeOff and Landing) category. Since these models operate in the low Reynolds number regime, the flow is strongly influenced by viscosity, leading to adverse phenomena such as premature boundary layer separation and the formation of laminar separation bubbles. The objective of the thesis is to perform a preliminary conceptual design of the aircraft and select an optimal wing airfoil based on its aerodynamic characteristics. A detailed 2D analysis of traditional airfoils (Clark Y, NACA series) and the Selig series airfoils, specifically designed for low speeds, was conducted using XFLR5 software. Subsequent 3D analysis of the complete wing, including the tail surfaces, and the evaluation of longitudinal static stability confirmed the suitability of the chosen aerodynamic solution. The resulting conceptual design provides a stable and efficient platform meeting the demanding requirements for STOL operation.
