This bachelor thesis focuses on the topology optimization of robot gripper jaws to reduce weight, while maintaining mechanical strength and stiffness. The theoretical part provides a research review of topology optimization methods and an overview of structural designs for robotic gripping mechanism. The practical part covers the development of a numerical model in the Ansys environment based on calculated gripping forces and the definition of the design domain. Through a comparison of optimization methods, it was found that the SIMP method produced structurally disconnected shapes, therefore, the optimization process was realized using Level-Set method for various aluminium and steel alloy variants. The obtained data were geometrically reconstructed into manufacturable models. Results show that for the optimal 6061-T6 aluminium variant, a weight reduction of 76,8 % per jaw was achieved compared to initial model. The application of optimized jaws results in an overall assembly weight reduction of nearly 14 % for 6061-T6 aluminium jaws, which in practice reduces inertial forces and positively influences the dynamics of the entire robotic arm.
