In this thesis, we focus on the development of an apparatus that enables the simultaneous delivery of intense light, a working gas, and an electrical voltage through a hollow optical fiber to the vicinity of a sample inside an electron microscope chamber. We will use this combination to facilitate the controlled growth of nanowires within the electron microscope chamber. In this thesis, we describe the manufacturing process and the integration of the proposed multifunctional chamber into the electron microscope system. We are also studying the growth of nanowires and the local control of their growth direction. In this thesis, we also present simulations aimed at understanding the problem of heating a sample surface using an optical fiber. In the experimental section, we describe how we succeeded in delivering intense light, a working gas, and an electric voltage to the vicinity of the sample. The methods we selected led to the successful growth of nanowires. Part of this work is also devoted to the structural analysis of the fabricated nanowires.
