The subject of this thesis was the preparation of project documentation consisting of documentation for the building permit, documentation for construction execution, and the design of an architectural detail. The bachelor’s thesis is based on an architectural study developed within an architectural design studio conducted under the course code BGA036. The proposed project focuses on the adaptive reuse of the municipal baths in Prostějov, converting them into a library with a community center. This intervention would provide a new use for the existing building, whose original function will be replaced in the near future by the construction of a new indoor swimming pool within the swimming complex.

The building is located in an exposed part of the city of Prostějov, within the district of the same name, in close proximity to the historic city center. The project requires extensive demolition works to enable a change in the building’s function and to ensure its smooth operation. The design places emphasis on representativeness, reflecting the building’s role as a significant municipal structure, while also focusing on sustainability and functionality.

The architectural expression of the reconstruction responds to the city’s history as an important center of the textile and garment industry and reintroduces the architectural values of the original building from the early 1960s.

The building represents a strong urban landmark that dominates the adjacent Florian Square. The three-storey structure is highly articulated and is covered by a combination of flat and pitched roofs. The new architectural form eliminates this disharmony and creates a cohesive visual identity characterized by clean lines and distinctive metal elements.
