Abstract:

The object of this bachelor thesis was to prepare project documentation for a building permit and documentation for the execution of construction, following an architectural study prepared as part of the BGA036 - Interior Design Studio course.
The subject of the studio work was the conversion of the municipal baths into a library with a community center in Prostějov, located in the city center.
The subject of the studio work was the reconversion of the city spa into a library with a community center in Prostějov, located in the city center. Currently, a new use for the building is being considered, and a new city library is being proposed.

The design for the conversion of the municipal baths is based primarily on information gathered during visits to the building itself. Other decisive factors in the design were the vision and requirements of the city and the employees of the existing city library, as well as the spatial possibilities of the building and its surroundings. The solution creates a cultural and social center in the form of a multifunctional city library, which will offer space for daily meetings of citizens, lectures, and commercial use. The design emphasizes the preservation of the dominant architectural elements of the original building, such as the original swimming pool and the glass facade of the pool hall. The design also includes the revitalization of the garden, which connects to the surroundings of the building and creates a peaceful place in an otherwise busy center of activity.

The library will be divided into several sections. The basement will include facilities that can also be used outside library hours via several side entrances to the building. These facilities include halls and club rooms for rent, a café area, as well as technical facilities and storage rooms. The first floor, which also houses the main entrance to the library and access to the garden, will be mainly used for the children's section and auditoriums, so these are considerably noisier spaces. There is also an entrance to the main hall, which extends with the pool from the first floor to the second floor, which is quieter because it houses offices, the adult section, the youth section, and all the study rooms. The youth library is mostly located on a newly inserted structure third floor.
