Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor’s thesis is the architectural and structural design of a new
kindergarten building located in the municipality of Bochoř. The aim of the project is to create
a contemporary educational and community facility that responds to the needs of preschool
education as well as local social life. The building is designed as a timber structure using
the NOVATOP solid wood construction system, which enables rapid construction, a high
level of sustainability, and a healthy indoor microclimate.

The layout is divided into two main parts – the kindergarten operation and a public,
community-oriented section with a multifunctional hall. These parts are functionally
separated but can be interconnected through the interior when needed, allowing flexible use
of the building for cultural, educational, and social events. The kindergarten capacity is
designed for two classrooms with appropriate sanitary, operational, and staff facilities.

The architectural concept emphasizes orientation towards the cardinal directions,
particularly southern exposure of the main occupied spaces, and direct connection between
the interior and the outdoor garden and playground areas. The building is designed as
a single-storey compact volume with an emphasis on operational clarity, barrier-free access,
and a natural relationship between indoor and outdoor environments.

The structural system consists of massive NOVATOP timber panels complemented by
thermal insulation layers and a ventilated façade system. The design applies principles of
sustainable architecture, energy efficiency, and responsible rainwater management. The
objective of the thesis is to create a functional, environmentally responsible, and
architecturally valuable building that contributes to the development of the municipality and
provides a safe and stimulating environment for children and the public.
